Volunteer

Our volunteer teams listed below are involved in every aspect of church from preparing the altar, serving at the altar, assisting at the food cupboard, hosting the coffee hour, knitting prayer shawls, helping with kids, pastoral care, and welcoming people on a Sunday.

Please contact us at office@stg.church and we will connect you with the right people!

GREETERS

At our services, the hosting team offers a friendly face to welcome the congregation and greet newcomers. If you have a gift for hospitality, we’d love to hear from you.

KIDS

Do you have a passion for seeing kids encounter Jesus? There's a whole range of opportunities for you to get involved. We would love to hear from you!

PHOTOGRAPHY

Are you a skilled photographer? The volunteer photography team helps cover key events at St. George’s. Joining this team is a great way to meet like-minded creatives and use your skills to serve.

REFRESHMENT HOSTS

The coffee teams prepare and serve refreshments after the 10am service. No cooking ability is required, just a heart for service and a desire to get plugged in.

FOOD MINISTRY

The food cupboard and community meal offer food, advice and friendship to those in need. We aim to build relationships and community with our guests in order to help them move on from difficult circumstances.

ALTAR GUILD

Directly involved in worship yet behind the scenes, the altar guild is responsible for creating the familiar scene that worshippers and priests expect at services.  Caring for the sacraments of bread and wine, a unique privilege and humbling responsibility.

ALTAR SERVERS

We are always looking for new servers aged 10 and up. Adults are more than welcome to join! It is a wonderful way to become more fully engaged in the service.  In-church, on the job training, to familiarize new servers is conducted as needed.  Every effort is made to schedule servers at a time of their preference.

PRAYER SHAWLS

The mission of our Prayer Shawl Ministry is to serve as an outreach for all in our church who enjoy knitting, most especially those who are gifted with these talents. To minister to those in need of physical, emotional or spiritual healing by providing a tangible representation of our concern, love and prayers for the individual in need. The Shawl is intended to “wrap” the person in prayer, comfort, healing and strength.

PASTORAL CARE

Pastoral care team members are available to visit at home, in a care residence, or at the hospital. We pray together, have a conversation, read from the scriptures, tell you what is happening at the church, or just sit in silence, depending on what works best for you. We can also connect you with some of the other ministries of care at St. George’s. For example, with your permission, we can add your name to the Sunday prayer list or the prayer chain, or arrange for you to receive the gift of a prayer shawl.

OTHER

Whatever your skill set or abilities, we would love to find a team that is right for you.
